Rita Redner
Rita Redner: Since 1988 Rita has maintained a studio in rural Brooke Valley, west of Perth. Her pottery is primarily wheel-thrown stoneware, sometimes altered, re-assembled, and carved or fluted. After 30 years, she knows the range of results she will find when opening her salt kiln after a firing. She fires to cone 6 in a 40cu ft. sprung arch kiln using a mixture of sodium chloride and borax (sodium tetraborate) when 'salting' towards the end of the firing process.
