Sarah Hale  ~  Batik Artist

Batik is a very ancient form of fabric decoration, originating in the Far East, where is it used for making both clothing and wall hangings.  It is a wax resist process; the designs are created through alternate applications of hot wax and dye.
Sarah Hale is one of the few North American artists specializing in batik as a landscape medium, and has found the process uniquely suited to capturing the colours and textures of the Canadian Shield.  Each of Sarah's signed batik pictures or cards is an original work, drawn freehand with melted wax on cotton fabric.
